Fall is in the air...along with rain, leaves, falling temps

The foot is supposedly healed, altho it's aching after mowing the yard for the 1st time since the break in May.  Not that I don't believe what the ortho PA said in September: Aw, it's fine, you can run on it now.  Really?  Cuz the x-rays appear to show the broken ends set ever so slightly past each other.  (Someone walked with the cast when they weren't supposed to bear weight yet.)

Chalk this up to boneheaded experience.

a year later

...and i've broken my foot.  it could be worse.  could be middle of winter, freezing, jobless, no insurance.  as it be, i have crutches and my fabulously fun knee scooter.  life is good.

i had planned to have a container veggie garden this year, but procrastination -- and falling off a curb -- threw my plans into disarray.  next year.

Summer 2012

Downsizing this year. Veggies in pots only. No access to a garden plot and that's ok with me for now. Simplify!

Plus, I need to save my energy for digging out the errant bamboo in the front yd -- that's all on me. Clumping, people, not running; c-l-u-m-p-i-n-g.

A few toms, bell pepper, Buttercrunch & Red Sails, broccoli raab (a 1st), stevia (1st), good ol' pineapple sage (for the hummybirds n beez), bee balm (another 1st w/ a nod to the nieces). Yeah yeah, you're saying, Those aren't all veggies. Sorry! I'm streamin' here...

This humid and warming weather is GREAT for the flora. Everything is exploding in its time: lilac, bleeding heart, rhodies, daylilies, columbine, peonies (couldn't resist Shirley Temple), and the roses. Sterling silver, Cecile Brunner, Queen Eliz. (just in time for jubilee!), and my new Gold Glow & Sunsprite. And what fragrances! They all seem more aromatic this season. Love it.

Veggie Garden 2011

Somebody saaaave me...from my unrelenting impulse to buy plants -- and let them eventually wither away to nothingness. Am I alone on this? Anyone? My pauvre gingko biloba tree finally gave up last year after sitting in a state of pure potted neglect for lo, [I can't say it] years. It let out a few stunted leaves, then wilted and died. I'm a monster! And yes, I am hunting for a replacement. I will refuse to actually buy it until I have space and sunlight for it, meaning that a few plum trees must be sheared and/or hacked down. Where's that electric chainsaw that has never seen light of day?
